Scott Osterhaus and John McCarthy established Osterhaus McCarthy LLC in 2004 with a commitment to finding the optimum aesthetic and technical solution for a diverse range of projects. They bring a consistent vision of contemporary aesthetics combined with the client’s vision to their projects throughout the Chicago area and the United States. The conditions of the surrounding environment and programmatic constraints drive the design conceptions through construction.

Osterhaus McCarthy believes architecture should contribute to the comfort of the occupant, utilize materials and technology appropriate to the budget and location, and inspire the curiosity and aesthetic sensitivity of those utilizing the building. The completed buildings are studies in restraint, responsive to the scale of the neighbors, subtle in use of material but bold and assertive.
